Summary: Massu is busy with filming so Pi sets about planning the perfect way to spend their first Valentine’s Day together.
A/N: This is the abridged version of the text message that I received at 4am yesterday… a work day. You could do a first vday together fluff fic. Like Pi is so flustered because Massu is so different from the people that he usually dates. That he does not know what to do? Ooo it would be cute if Pi finally caved after ruining a home cooked dinner that he goes to the Masuda’s and gets Massu’s mom to make gyoza for them … I want this fic… write it for me <3 hope the buzzing of this message won’t wake you up XD if it does OHAYO~

For the most part, idols were not huge fans of the holiday known as Valentine’s Day. Girls were more insistent on waiting hours for them to appear, whether at train stations, of for some of the more unfortunate ones, in their home neighborhoods. Idols that did have girlfriends had to once again deal with the complaints about not being able to be a publicly dating couple in addition to the jealousy the inevitably came with the mounds of chocolate from other girls.
Yamapi, personally, didn’t hate Valentine’s Day. He had never really been the kind of person to be bothered too much by rumors of taking a girl out for a date. It’s not like it was a sex scandal and they always passed without much trouble. That was how he normally felt about it, but this year was different and was already causing him an unexpected amount of stress.
This was his first Valentine’s Day with Massu and it absolutely needed to be perfect. No exceptions.
Massu was different. Yamapi had dated a fair share of people, guys and girls, but he could definitely say that Massu was not your average guy. He was laid back, he wasn’t needy, and he didn’t cling on to Yamapi for fear that it was their last night together. He didn’t react to things the same way you’d expect one to. It had taken a long time to figure out that the other man had liked him back, but that was just how Massu was.
Yamapi sighed. What should he do? Normally, if he was dating a girl, he’d just make a reservation at an expensive restaurant. The girl was always thrilled and no bad press usually came of it. If he was dating a guy at the time, they would just have a casual date, hanging out in a way that would appear like they were just friends. No problems there either… but Massu was different. He was special and Yamapi didn’t want to do the casual-appear-to-be-friends kind of thing.
He couldn’t take him out to an expensive restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Just the two of them out in the public on the day of love at a high class restaurant would raise some questions… a lot of unfavorable paparazzi… and Yamapi didn’t want any of it for his boyfriend.
He knew that Massu would actually be alright with anything. That’s the kind of guy he was. As long as they were together, he’d be happy, but Yamapi wanted it to be special. High class restaurant and casual date were both out.
Yamapi sighed again, leaning back into the couch. “Doushiyoo….”
On the other side of the room, Ryo scoffed. “I don’t understand what the problem is. He was a pig in his previous life. FEED him.”
He glared at his friend. “I know that there needs to be food involved. That was never the problem Mr. Sexy Osaka Man.”
“If you’re so worried about being seen, why don’t you make him dinner at home?” Tegoshi piped up helpfully. “I bet he’d really like that.”
Ryo snickered. “Yeah, that’d be a great idea… if Pi could cook.”
“Of course Yamapi can co—“ the younger boy stopped when he saw the look on their leader’s face. “Really?! I thought you could do anything!”
“…”
“Just kidding!” Tegoshi said brightly, trying to defuse the situation he’d caused. “It’s okay. Massu’s really good at it!” But the cloud that had formed about his head wasn’t budging.
Sighing, Ryo stood up to whack his friend. “Pi! Cut it out. You’re gonna make him cry. Look. Massu knows you can’t cook. Hell. I thought everyone knew. But think about it. How happy would he be if you managed to make dinner for him?”
Yamapi’s face brightened as he grabbed his bag and jacket, dashing out the door.
After a few moments, Tegoshi looked at Ryo. “Do you think he can do it?”
Ryo laughed. “No, course not. But he’s not just in here pouting anymore now is he?”

Yamapi stood in the kitchen of the apartment he now shared with Massu. For the past 5 minutes he could only stare at the recipe in front of him. Flipping back to the cover, he reconfirmed that this was the “Basics to Cooking”.
Well. He might as well try.

[Sure. Do I want to know? Ryo-tan’s laughing. Just so you know. – Tegoshi]

When Massu came home from filming, he was smiling. The only thing he knew about his plans with Yamapi was that he should come straight home… Although he’s also received a text message from his mother telling him how wonderful his boyfriend was.
“Okaeri.”
Massu turned to see Yamapi come out from their bedroom in pretty formal attire aside from the pink apron around his waist. Smiling brightly he replied, “Tadaima.”
He looked down at his own clothes. “I feel underdressed…”
Yamapi smiled. “When has that ever mattered?”
Laughing, they walked into the dining room and Massu let out a surprised gasp. “This is…”
In front of him all across the table were his favorite foods, gyoza included. Clearing his throat, the older boy grinned sheepishly. “Um… you know that large fry pan you like to use?”
“Uh-huh…”
“Yeah, uh, there was an accident. No one was hurt,” he assured quickly, “But there were a few casualties… so you get to buy new ones!”
Whatever reaction he was expecting, it definitely was not Massu starting to cry.
“I’m really sorry!” he said rushing to his side, trying to think really hard if the deceased fry pan had been a present of some sort. “I’ll pay for all of it.”
Massu shook his head. “That’s not it…” He grabbed his boyfriend’s face, resting their foreheads together. “You tried to cook for me.”
Smiling a little abashedly, Pi nodded. “’Tried’ being the operative word.”
Massu laughed even as he sniffled. “Looks fine to me…”
“Uh… heh. Um, that’s because I had to ask you mom if she’d come over to help me…”
Ah. Now the text message made more sense.
“I really did try to make this the perfect Valentine’s Day,” Yamapi murmured softly.
“It is perfect. I don’t need extravagance. I don’t want or need all that extra stuff. Just being with you makes it perfect.”
Yamapi paused. “Has anyone ever told you that you’re a lot more romantic that they give you credit for?”
“Nope!” he said, smiling. “Now let’s eat! Itadakima~su!”

Tegoshi burst into another fit of giggles. “He actually asked your mother to go over to you place to help him cook?! Really?!”
“It was actually really cute,” Massu said proudly in his boyfriend’s defense. “And my mother likes him even more now.”

YAMAPI: …Yes… and?
JIN: So go with me on this. We’re in Japan where it’s tradition for girls to give boys chocolate on Valentine’s Day. Correct?

JIN: *snickers* You’re the GIRL in your relationship!!!
YAMAPI: …
RYO: It’s okay if he’s the girl, Bakanishi. Pi has bigger boobs than Buta anyway.
YAMAPI: … How the hell are you two my best friends again?!
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Btw… for future reference. If any of you are ever in Japan the week before V-Day, go to one of the department stores like Takashimaya and go to the “Chocolate Floor”… they give out free samples. ^__^
