I had a lot of free time at work today so I started translating Kitayama's parts of the photobook.  Just the Personal History page for now, but I'll be getting to his profile page and his thoughts on the other members later.

NAME
Hiromitsu Kitayama

You know? I don't think I'll have a day of complacency any time soon (laugh).

MY CHILDHOOD
I was an active kid that never got sick. Even though I was an only child, I was always with my friends. We'd play together until forever as soon as school finished. I also definitely didn't want to be called a "spoiled only child" (laugh). When I entered junior high school I started to dislike adults. I hated that they'd harshly tell me what to do and so I rebelled against everything. "Adults can't understand how I feel!" This is like the picture of my rebellious stage (laugh). Recently though, I'm on that (=adult) side now (laugh). Looking at it from an adult's point of view, they're not that bad (laugh). That rebellious stage of mine maybe lasted until my first year of high school, but through soccer, I was able to discipline both mind and body. Club activities are a world of unquestionable hierarchy, extremely tough practices, and there have been a lot of hardships, but because of all that, I have a sense of the emotional strength called "endurance". Thanks to soccer, I was able to become the kind of person that doesn't get down over the little things. It's an essential part of my life and a vital keyword.

ME AS A JOHNNY'S JR.
I was 16 when I became a Junior and that's really on the late side. We were in different homerooms, but Yamashita (Tomohisa) was in the same grade, at the same school as me. At that time, I did nothing but play soccer, but we were the same age and he was already working. I thought it was pretty incredible and my friend encouraged me, saying, "Why not audition then?" But like I mentioned before, I was already 16. I figured there was no way I'd pass and, of course, when I went to the audition hall, everyone was younger than me. Legs that have only played soccer definitely can't dance on the spot. But I went in with the mindset, "If you're going to do it, give it all you've got so you won't regret it later!" My first job as a Junior was a photo shoot for WinkUp. I remember being at the set with elementary school kids and Question?'s Fujiie. Fujiie's one year older than me, so having someone there in the same age bracket was a relief. Being in the same rank as elementary school kids was definitely a little mortifying. I mean, it was of course like that because we'd all entered together, but I guess you could say pride can get in the way. Pride is something that I didn't want to throw away no matter what. Actually, even now I haven't given up on my pride. I think it's still too early to start being complacent and I want to hold on to it. That way in the future, I can laugh and be like, "I was young then," (laugh). When I was still dancing in the shadows of the pillars at the very back, Yamashita called out, "Oh~ Kitayama!" in the same way one would to someone close to them, and it made me happy. When I got used to being a Junior, I was really happy and had prepared for it. I gave up my ten years of soccer and chose this world, so I can only give it my all, right?

WORK THAT I CAN NEVER FORGET
In my case, more so than the work, I feel like it's the people I meet that have a bigger effect on me. First of all, Nishikiori-san who I was allowed to work with for PLAYZONE. The way I looked at things changed. The entertainment world and my growth as an actor… he taught me about many worlds. Even just as a person, Nishikiori-san is amazing and someday I really want to become a person like him. Another sempai that I admire is Takizawa (Hideaki) kun. Up until now he's talked to me both at work and in private, but I feel like in every individual word, there are these hints. Age wise, we're not so different, but mentally we're generations apart… That's how much of an adult he is (laugh).

ON KIS-MY-FT2
This might not be a good thing to say, but in the beginning, I thought of us as the "Collection of Rejects." Of course that's probably not what the president had in mind, but all the members would masochistically say things like that. At first, the younger four would be hesitant towards us and completely lacked in spirit (laugh). And then from that it felt like the opposite and was as if someone had lit a fire in them. The most dramatic change occurred when we got our first solo concert. I feel like that was when each member started to understand the real meaning of responsibility, but there was still a little of that "Someone else will do it" naivety. You know? I don't think I'll have a day of complacency any time soon (laugh). I sometimes get told that I think too much, but I have a lot of things to think about (laugh). Ideally, I want us to have an atmosphere similar to that of TOKIO. But I don't think that confidence in each other, nor that pleasant air can be achieved overnight. After five or ten years… I hope Kisumai will be able to have that kind of feeling, too.

I especially loved the last bit about the group.
I'm glad somebody actually said it...said what many people felt at that time, like the fans...

so, horikoshi has a good soccer team >.> as far as group dynamics go, being TOKIO like is not a bad thing...when it comes to partying like then, now that's the problem XD

aww i love his way of thinking. he's so sweet. he's so nice but he credits everything to - SOCCER =P

but he choose this world over soccer and isn't he doing do well now? ♥

Mitsu's either pretty smart or pretty rich cause Horikoshi's like a celebrity school (rich people/idols etc.)

that's why i love Mitsu most! his words are POWERFUL ♥

thanks for translating!

'Collection of Rejects'..is a little harsh. Hiro has such an interesting outlook on the world, and his work in general. Geez, I love this boy.

It's easy to see how they all thought that though. It's just good that they've really pushed past that. &hearts
